Trifecta Friday Five: 5 Favorite Summer Activities

I am participating in the Trifecta Friday 5 Link up hosted by Bloggers at: You Signed Up for What? , Mar on the Run and Eat, Pray, Run DC .  This week's topic is 5 Favorite Summer Activities.

It can be a long hard winter here in Maine, and last winter was no exception!  Here is a sample of the amount of snow we had with just one storm!  The snow was over a bottle of wine high, yikes!!

Needless to say, I get very excited when the snow melts and things warm up around here!  I have many favorite summer activities, but here are my Top 5:

1. The Beach:  I absolutely love living near the ocean and being able to go to the beach with my family.  We have some gorgeous beaches here in Maine, although the water can be a bit chilly!

(Jumping the waves at Old Orchard Beach with the Littles)

2. Picking Blueberrries: The best blueberries come from Maine!  I love picking a few quarts of fresh wild blueberries with the kids.  Then, I make a blueberry pie with them, which is a family favorite!

Hiking: We have many wonderful places to hike in Maine and New Hampshire.  It is such great exercise and a great way to get the kids out in the fresh air to enjoy the beautiful outdoors!

(Hiking at Cadillac Mountain last Summer in Bar Harbor, Maine- one of my favorite places)

4. Lobster:  Summertime means Lobster bakes & Lobster Rolls here!  Eating and cooking Lobster top my favorite 5!

(A delicious homemade Lobster Roll!)

5. Relaxing: Summer is a busy time with the kids.  However, with school out, bed times are relaxed, there are no lunches to pack, and no homework to do!  It is a wonderful time for us to relax as a family, enjoy the outdoors, play games together, go for nature walks, and roast marshmallows by a fire at night.  I love summer for so many reasons, but the "laziness" of it is my favorite!

What are your favorite Summer Activities?  I would love to hear from you!  Don't forget to check out some of the other wonderful blogs in the Link-up!

  1. I love summer time in Maine! For the past few years we visited there because my husband's grandpa had a house there...but sadly he sold it so we probably won't be going back. I definitely love the beach as well! And I am so happy that its finally summer time after surviving the long, cold winter...

    1. My favorite is the Maine Coast Half Marathon. It runs all along the coast and is a beautiful, well-organized event. I just did it in May. If you check out my Blog, I did a Race Report on the event and put in several pictures of the run course! Enjoy your Summer!!

  8. I really want to get into hiking, it seems like a natural addition to my normal activities (running, biking etc) and I just haven't put the time in to doing it, but I know the kids would love it!!

  9. What a great list! I love lobster rolls. They are one of my all-time favorite foods. And that pie looks divine. For an activity, my husband and I frequent our local shave ice stand. They make their shave ices the same as in Hawaii, so they're as close as we can get without going back to the islands.
